Have your say in Castle Vale's energy future

Powering Up Castle Vale is about working closely with the community to explore what’s possible when a community leads the way in shaping its own energy future. Together, we'll develop a practical plan that’s shaped by the views, concerns and ideas of the people who live in Castle Vale. Between now and Spring 2026, we’ll be:

  • Hosting events, workshops and street conversations across Castle Vale: to build a shared plan for improving local homes and cutting energy bills and carbon emissions, shaped by what residents say matters most, and designed to unlock investment.

  • Carrying out FREE home energy assessments: to understand how homes in Castle Vale are really working, where energy is being lost, and what’s needed to make them warmer, healthier and more affordable to run. If you're a Castle Vale resident, you can sign up for a FREE home energy assessment here. By taking part, you’ll also help shape future improvements for Castle Vale. As a thank you, you’ll get a £50 Love2Shop gift card!

  • Installing indoor air-quality sensors in some homes: to better understand the air we’re breathing indoors. This will help us spot problems like poor ventilation that can affect health and comfort. What we learn could help residents with simple ways to improve their homes now, and guide bigger changes for the future.

  • Exploring long-term, community-led opportunities for the neighbourhood: including solar panels on community buildings, new skills and training routes, and ways to reinvest any benefits back into Castle Vale so they last for the long term.

The aim is to create a plan that Castle Vale can be proud of — one that attracts future funding, and helps the community take greater control over the changes that affect their lives.

This work is just the start. But with the right ideas, support and local leadership, it can lay the foundations for something bigger — and longer-lasting.
