Ever walked past somewhere in Castle Vale and thought, “they could do something with that”?  Maybe it’s an empty roof. A row of garages. A car park. A forgotten bit of land. Or simply somewhere you think could be greener, safer or more useful for the community.

That’s where our Spot a Space challenge comes in!

Powering Up Castle Vale is about local people helping shape the future of our homes, energy and neighbourhood. Together, we're exploring ideas and opportunities for how Castle Vale could produce more of its own energy - including through solar panels - and how the benefits from that energy could stay within the community.

Where are the opportunities?

They could be all around us - on roofs, buildings and garages, or on land and shared spaces across Castle Vale. Some might be options for solar panels. Others could be made greener, provide shade on hot days, or become safer or more useful for the community. Some could do both!

We're looking for roofs, land, buildings and shared spaces across Castle Vale that could have potential for solar energy, or could be made greener, safer or more useful for the community. You don't need to know whether an idea would actually work... that's for us to look into. We just need your local knowledge and what you can see!

We’ll bring together the spaces and ideas people have shared to build a picture of the opportunities across Castle Vale. From there, we’ll explore what could be possible.

Not every space will be suitable, and there’s still more to understand before any decisions are made. As ideas develop, we’ll continue working with local people to shape what happens next.
